Apparatus for determining deformations and/or displacements comprises a pair of sensors (1, 2) which are releasably attachable to an object for purposes of measurement, and are joined by means of an elastic and/or deformable element (3) capable of conducting ultrasound. Deformation of this element results in generation of a signal detectable by a measuring unit (10) connected to the sensors. An Independent claim is also included for application of the proposed apparatus for measurement of displacements and/or deformations of parts of human or animal bodies and inanimate objects.
