Fastening for a vehicle steering wheel

The motor vehicle steering wheel mounting has a polygonal facetted section (3) on the end of the steering shaft (5). The end of the shaft has a tapered cut out to receive a locking wedge (13) for the steering wheel hub (7). The hub has a threaded bore to receive a grub (17) screw which is used to lock the wedge in place in the cut out in the steering shaft. The wedge and the grub screw can be released without damage.
