PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sealing paste which comprises a sealing composition and a vehicle, and which can be easily and accurately controlled with respect to its quantity applied to a glass member to be sealed with an automated coating machine. SOLUTION: The sealing paste is prepared by mixing the sealing composition and the vehicle in the mass mixing ratio: sealing composition/vehicle = 10/1-14/1. The sealing composition consists of alumina filler and glass powder with a low melting point, which contains an additive of a low-expansion refractory filler or the like. In the alumina filler, the mass mixing ratio of a coarse alumina filler (a) and a fine alumina filler (b) is within the range of 0.1<b/[a+b]<1.
