PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fabric capable of developing a pattern on water infiltration, that is, one getting wet with water or hot water independently of temperature, with no development of any foreign matter feeling at a pattern-printed part, thus optimum as a body-washing fabric product such as a towel. SOLUTION: This fabric is produced by the steps of printing a pattern 3 on a fabric 2 with a coating using a water repellent and heating and drying the resultant fabric 2 printed with the pattern 3. In this fabric, when the fabric 2 lies dry, the pattern 3 is invisible, but when the fabric 2 is soaked in water or hot water, the ground-colored portion thereof becomes deep in color on water infiltration, while the portion provided with the pattern 3 repels water by the action of the water repellent, representing the ground-colored condition left intact as the fabric 2 lies dried; therefore there develops a color deepness difference between the portion provided with the pattern 3 and the portion deepened in color due to the water infiltration, thus developing the pattern 3 through the portion thinner in color than the portion deepened in color due to the water infiltration.
