PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid wire for carbon-dioxide shielded arc welding which has satisfactory welding usability, and attains the excellent strength and stable, excellent toughness of weld metal even when welding with high efficiency is performed under high electric current, high heat input and high interpass temper ature. SOLUTION: The solid wire for carbon-dioxide shielded arc welding has a composition containing, by mass, 0.02 to 0.1% C, 0.6 to 1.5% Si and 1.0 to 1.7% Mn, also satisfying Si+Mn: 2.0 to 3.0% and Mn/Si: >=0.85, and containing 0.2 to 0.4% Ti, 0.003 to 0.012% B, 0.1 to 0.3% Mo, >=0.005% O and <=0.005% N. The wire further contains 0.005 to 0.05% of one or two kinds selected from Al or Zr.
