PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten a process time for retrieving process by lightening a load of update operation and outputting longest prefix match with one time retrieving operation making such constitution that the device can cope with large capacity easily, in an associative memory device. SOLUTION: This device is provided with logical operation means 406, 407 outputting information about bit length being not masked out of entry data when entry data stored in a self-entry unit coincides with bit data being a key, and retrieving result output means 405-1 to 405-n outputting retrieving correspondent information for a retrieving key only when entry data stored in the self-entry unit is entry data of which bit length being not masked is the longest.
