PURPOSE: An apparatus for generating an infrared signal for adjusting a volume of an acoustic device in a telephone is provided to accurately listen to a telephone termination sound without being influenced by a peripheral noise by the operation of the acoustic device. CONSTITUTION: A ring signal generating unit(2) senses a signal inputted through an office line input unit(1) when a telephone is called from the outside, and generates a ring signal. A ring signal sensing unit(3) counts a ring signal outputted from the ring signal generating unit(2), and transmits a signal to a CPU(6). A call circuit unit(4) senses the signal inputted through the office line input unit(1), and forms a channel. The CPU(6) collectively controls an entire operation. An infrared signal generating unit(7) converts a signal controlled from the CPU(6) into an infrared signal, and outputs the infrared signal. An on-hook switch(8) switches the on/off hook state of the telephone. A selection switch(9) turns on/off the operation of the infrared signal generating unit(7).
