<p>The invention relates to a hand held device (1) for transferring a film (4) of for example adhesive, covering or coloured material from a supply onto a substrate (5), comprising a base body (2), on which the supply and an application member (3) are disposed, a cover (14) being provided for the application member (3) which is moveable between a covering position covering the application member (3) and a release position releasing the application member (3).
