PURPOSE: A method for upgrading firmware of a digital regenerator is provided to reduce cost of the digital regenerator and solve fatal trouble of a portable device generated by errors caused in upgrading firmware. CONSTITUTION: A method for upgrading firmware of a digital regenerator includes the steps of preliminarily storing firmware at a regular area of a storage, judging whether firmware of a flash memory is valid by loading a boot code from a boot sector of the flash memory when power is supplied, reproducing music files by loading the firmware if the firmware is valid, writing firmware to be upgraded at the storage and then writing the firmware at the flash memory if the firmware stored at the flash memory and the storage should be upgraded.
