[Also in Division H2] In an electric motor-pump unit, e. g. for central heating installations, having a generally spherical casing, the electric motor is centrally mounted in the casing with its rotational axis X-X, Fig. 2, lying perpendicular to the axis Z-Z passing through the inlet and discharge ducts. A centrifugal pump impeller 27 is arranged at each end of the motor, this arrangement balancing axial thrusts on the shaft 25. Plastics covers 10 can be removed to provide access to the pump impellers. Each cover has a removable plate 12 of plastics material treated to provide a central transparent inspection window 13. A by-pass passage 35, 36 has a flow control valve therein adjusted by a knob (15, Fig. 1 not shown), positioned on the outside of the casing and carrying a pointer (16) co-operating with a scale (17) on the casing.</p> |
