PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a double speed moving forward/backward device movable forward/backward at high speed exceeding a prescribed value without using a high tensile strength timing belt and thereby avoiding increases in the scales of fixed pulleys, moving pulleys and other mechanism parts. SOLUTION: This device is provided with a fixed side member 1, a pair of left and right fixed pulleys 3 and 4 rotatably supported by the fixed side member 1, a first moving member 2 moving forward/backward corresponding to the fixed side member 1, the moving pulleys 5 and 6 rotatably supported by the first moving member 2 and a timing belt 9 which is fixed to the fixed side member 1 at both end parts and is wound on the fixed pulleys 3 and 4 and the moving pulleys 5 and 6. The one fixed pulley 3 is rotated and driving by an electric motor 11, and the other fixed pulley 4 is rotated by being synchronized with the fixed pulley 3 each other in the same direction by an electric motor 12.
