PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid worsening of the gear shifting feeling by preventing the generation of a retraction shock due to an interruption of the driving force to be transmitted to wheels during the gear shifting operation for releasing an automatic clutch. SOLUTION: A reverse selecting condition is carried out to transmit the rotation of an engine, which is transmitted to a transmission input shaft 1, from a reverse input gear 7 to a transmission output shaft 2 through a reverse counter gear 24, an idler shaft 3, a reverse idler gear 25 and a reverse main gear 26. When shifting a gear between forward traveling steps, coupling sleeves 19, 20 and 21 corresponding in the condition that an automatic clutch 4 is released are stroked in the corresponding direction and thereafter, the automatic clutch 4 is connected again. An assist motor 29 is driven to maintain the torque of the transmission output shaft 2 at a torque value obtained just before releasing the automatic clutch 4 even in the condition that the automatic clutch 4 is released during the gear shifting. An interruption of the driving force to be transmitted to the transmission output shaft 2 is thereby prevented even if the clutch 4 is released during the gear shifting operation, and worsening of the gear shifting feeling is prevented. |
