PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a guide rail device for an elevator having a constitution with a driving apparatus installed through a guide rail of a hoistway, and capable of reducing the transmission of vibration. SOLUTION: The guide rail 6 is stood on the hoistway 1, and supported on a fixing body 2 of the hoistway 1 by a bracket 3. One side of an overdisplacement preventing member 12 is fastened to the fixing body 2, and the other side is provided with a recessed part 15 surrounding a basic part 7 side of the guide rail 6 with a small gap. The horizontal overdisplacement of the guide rail caused by the elastic deformation of the bracket 3 in applying the abnormal load to the guide rail 6 can be prevented when the earthquake occurs. The transmission of vibration is reduced by lowering the rigidity of the bracket 3 with respect to the phenomenon that the vibration caused by the operation of the driving apparatus is transmitted to a living room through the bracket 3 and the like, and the overdisplacement of the guide rail 6 caused by abnormal load is prevented by the overdisplacement preventing member 12.
