Plastic tube expansion appliance - with oval spreading mandrel and semi-cylindrical shells

Tubes, specially the socket ends of plastic tubes are expanded by an appliance with a shaft, supported at both ends in a casing. The spreading mandrel at the shaft end has an oval or elliptic cross-section and fits into the tube, covered by two semicylindrical shells. Turning the handwheel moves these shells radially outward and effects the desired expansion. ADVANTAGE - This appliance requires no heat input and little force.
