PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of hot-inserting a controller. SOLUTION: This method of hot-inserting a controller into a redundant controller system 30 includes a step 82 for configuring a first controller 32 so that a first memory 50, a task processor 52, and a system operation processor 54 can be included, and for allowing the first memory 50 to include a first memory image, a step 84 for operating the redundant controller system 30 through the first controller 32, a step 85 for processing a system operation command through the system operation processor 54, a step 86 for inserting a second controller 34 including a second memory into the redundant controller system, and a step 88 for processing a background task including the copy of the first memory image to the second memory during the processing of the system operation command through the first controller 32 by using the task processor.
