PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a node detecting method for exactly detecting the information of a node being equipment that a computer network has. SOLUTION: In the node detecting method for detecting the node being equipment constructing the computer network, this method is provided with a first transmitting step for transmitting a first detecting signal to the node, a first receiving step for receiving the address information of a node which receives the first detecting signal, from the relevant node, a first storage step for storing the address information of the node received in the first receiving step in a first memory, a second transmitting step for transmitting a second detecting signal to the node by using the address information of the node stored in the first memory, a second receiving step for receiving the class information of the node corresponding to the second detecting signal from the node which receives the second detecting signal, a judging step for judging the class of the node on the basis of the class information of the node received in the second receiving step, and a second storage step for storing the class information of the node in a second memory corresponding to the class of the node.
