摘要

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic recording medium having a long term lubrication effect and realizing excellent running speed and durability by heightening adhesion stability between a protective film and a lubricant. SOLUTION: The magnetic recording medium 1 is provided with a magnetic layer 3, the protective film 4 and a lubricant 5 on a nonmagnetic supporting body 2 in this order. The surface of the protective film 4 (a contact surface with the lubricant 5) is treated under atmosphere of inert gas plasma. The lubricant 5 retained on the protective film 4 contains an ester compound expressed by a general formula R<1> COOCH2 -Rf-CH2 OCOR<1> or R<2> OOC-Rf'-COOR<2> and a perfluoroalkyl ester derivative of a carboxylic acid expressed by a general formula RCOO(CH2 )m Cn F2n+1 .
