PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a camera capable of preventing photographing on an abnormal exposure condition in advance by detecting that a shutter is in an abnormal state and setting the camera in a release lock state while keeping image disappearance time short. SOLUTION: This camera is provided with a CPU 25 deciding that the traveling of a focal-plane shutter is abnormal when a 2nd signal showing the completion of the traveling of a front curtain or the completion of the traveling of a rear curtain is not detected in a period from completing exposure till detecting a 1st signal outputted between the completion of the mirror-up operation and the mirror-down operation state of a quick return mirror 4.
