PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gelatin coating liquid having increased viscosity, to increase the viscosity of a gelatin coating liquid particularly of <=pH 5 and to provide a high speed coating method for the above gelatin coating liquid. SOLUTION: (1) The gelatin coating liquid contains a thickener having a polyalkyleneoxy group in its molecule. (2) In the coating method, a gelatin coating liquid of <=pH 5 containing a thickener having a polyalkyleneoxy group in its molecule is coated by a slide curtain coating system.
