PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sealing material and a chip seal which is superior in load resistance, in wear resistance and in not destructive property against a mating material as well as in moldability, and is capable of being used in a scroll type compressor using carbon dioxide gas as refrigerant. SOLUTION: The sealing material for the scroll type compressor is resin formation of aromatic polyether ketene containing at least 5 is 30 vol.% of carbon fiber and 1 to 30 vol.% of tetrafluoethylene resin per total resin composition and the chip seal of the resin composition is molded into a spiral form.
