PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing various polyalcohols having ether structure. SOLUTION: The method comprises reacting an unsaturated compound having an ethylenic double bond and a carbonyl group which may be protected with polyalcohols in the presence of acid catalyst to add the hydroxy group to the ethylenic double bond, and then converting the carbonyl group into hydroxy group by hydrogenation.
