PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper sheet size detection device capable of saving installation space and easy to be assembled. SOLUTION: This device is provided with a slidable side fence 9 positioned according to a size of paper sheet loaded on a paper feeding tray 3, a cylindrical drum 15 rotating together with a sliding action of the side fence 9 and having a spiral guide groove part 31 formed, and a moving member 17 movable in an axial direction with engaging with the guide groove part 31 of the cylindrical drum 15 and provided with a plurality of detected parts 37, 39, 41, 43 along the moving direction. The detected parts 37, 39, 41, 43 are provided with projections 30 in different arrangements corresponding to each paper sheet size and a detecting part 21 detecting the arrangement of the projections 30 is provided. The moving member 17 moves together with sliding action of the side fence 9 in the axial direction of the cylindrical drum 15 to make the detected part corresponding to the paper sheet size positioned to face to the detecting part 21.
