<p>A novel vehicle occupant restraining module (10) is described. The retraining module includes an inflatable cushion (12) having an inner surface (14) and an outer surface (16). The inflatable cushion (12) is capable of receiving inflation fluid (18) from an inflation fluid source (20). A retaining collar (22) is positioned adjacent a mouth (21) of the cushion (12) and about the inflation fluid source (20) to retain the inflatable cushion in communication with the inflation fluid source (20). The retaining collar (22) includes a flange (70) that flares elliptically outward from the inflation fluid source. The retaining collar (22) also includes an extension tab (76) for preventing the cushion from contacting the inflation fluid source (20) after inflation.</p> |
