The device, assembled of a base (9), a rotating blade (8), and a drive is fitted with a new design of a carriage (10). The carriage (10) is swivel mounted to a vertical axle (16) positioned at the rear of the base (9) and has a curved front edge (10a), matching the rear surface of the slice removing element (12). The cheese or large salami is positioned on top (11) of the carriage (10) and moved along the blade (8) in a curve, resulting in slightly wedge shaped slices, which are in most cases not visibly different from the normal slice because of their slim shape.
