A variable area exhaust nozzle (10) with a variable thrust vector angle for a turbo-fan engine and mounted on the aft portion of the nacelle which wraps around the engine. The nozzle may include a fixed structure (11) having at least two lateral arms separating two radial cutouts (25) which are positioned one above the other below the engine axis (24). At least two shells (12, 13) close the fixed structure cutouts and are pivotally mounted (14) on the fixed structure (11) to form a portion of the exhaust nozzle. Actuator means (15, 16) pivot the shells either to a symmetrical configuration for changing the value of the exhaust area or to an unsymmetrical configuration for changing the angle the thrust vector angle.
