<p>A process for the production of tertiary amines by reductive amination of carbonyl compounds with secondary amines in the presence of a water scavenger, preferably trifluoroacetic acid anhydride, is disclosed. This process has applications in the preparation of imidazole-containing benzodiazepines, which are inhibitors of farnesyl protein transferase.</p> |
