PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reach type forklift truck with high safety capable of preventing an operation from being performed by an operator with his foot extended to the outside of an operation stand through an access port. SOLUTION: In this reach type forklift truck, a mast 2 and a fork 3 are installed at the front part of a body 1, and an operation panel 6, an operation stand 7 for an operator to operate the operation panel 6 in standing posture, and an access port 11 opened to gain access to the operation stand 7 are installed at the rear of the body 1. A sensor 13 for detecting that a part of the body of the operator resides on the access port 11 and a means for prohibiting the operation of the body when the sensor 13 detects a part of the body of the operator are installed in the forklift truck.
