PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the exciting method of an optical amplifier or a laser oscillator with 1.4 to 1.52μm band. SOLUTION: The optical amplifier with 1.4 to 1.52μm band which is provided with an exciting light source, multiplexer/demultiplexer and an amplification optical waveguide is excited by the two or above types of different wavelengths of at least one wavelength from a range in the wavelengths 0.75 to 0.85μm and one wavelength from a range in the wavelengths 1.35 to 1.45μm.
