Compounds shown and compounds of formula (I) wherein: Y is a direct bond, O, NR11, CR6 or CH-COOC. R11 and R6 are H or CH3; Z is O, S or NH; X is NH, O, S, CH2, a bond, -CH=CH- or -CH2-CH2-; R1-R7 are independently: hydrogen, amino, alkylamino, nitro, nitroso or a 5- or 6- membered N- containing heterocycle that is bonded via its N-atom. The compounds are useful for inhibiting Poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase (PARP) inhibitors activity and treating diseases or disorders including tissue damage resulting from cell damage or death due to necrosis or apoptosis, neuronal mediated tissue damage or diseases, neural tissue damage resulting from ischemia and reperfusion injury, neurological disorders and neurodegenerative diseases, vascular stroke, cardiovascular disorders, age-related macular degeneration, AIDS and other immune senescence diseases, arthritis, atherosclerosis, cachexia, cancer, degenerative diseases of skeletal muscle involving replicative senescence, diabetes, head trauma, immune senescence, inflammatory bowel disorders, muscular dystrophy, osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, chronic pain, acute pain, neuropathic pain, nervous insult, peripheral nerve injury, renal failure, retinal ischemia, septic shock, and skin aging, diseases or disorders relating to lifespan or proliferative capacity of cells, and diseases or disease conditions induced or exacerbated by cellular senescence.
