PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the recording and reproducing performance of a magnetic head more by carrying out a heat treatment (annealing) which greatly improves the head characteristics. SOLUTION: When a heat treatment, in which the peak temperature is equal to or lower than the glass transition point, carried out for a magnetic head chip to eliminate internal distortion during the formation of the magnetic head chip, the heat treatment is carried out by a temperature pattern having peaks twice or more (S103, S109).
