<p>Simultaneous measurements are taken of the electrical resistance of the solid and the quantity of gas adsorbed as gas passes over the solid. Since the electrical conductivity of the solid varies proportionally with the degree to which chemical adsorption has taken place, it follows that by measuring the total adsorption & simultaneous electrical resistance of the solid, it is possible to determine the degree of physical adsorption. The apparatus comprises electro-chromatographic equipment to deal with a powered sample, preferably of grain size about 0.3mm.</p> |
