PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal insulating method for a manhole, which makes it difficult to melt fallen snow on a cover body. SOLUTION: Sewage S passes from an inflow port 12 of the manhole 3, whose upper part is fitted wit the cover body 2, to an outlet 13 thereof. A heat insulating material 51 is mounted inside the manhole 3 separated downward from the cover body 2. The material 51 prevents a temperature of the cover body 2 from rising due to the sewage S passing through the inside of the manhole 3. The fallen snow on the cover body 2 of the manhole 3 is made hard to melt when the cover body 2 is flush with a road surface GL. A part on the cover body 2 is not taken as a depression during accumulation of the snow on the road surface GL. A step is not generated on the road surface GL. A hindrance to traffic can be eliminated during the accumulation of the snow on the road surface GL.
