PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ferrule which prevents scattering of light on the end face of the ferrule to be used for interconnection of optical fiber connectors. SOLUTION: The ferrule consists of polycrystalline light-transmitting ceramics having >=40% transmittance, <=10 μm average pore diameter and the density of the sintered body as >=95% of the theoretical value, and the ferrule can prevent scattering of light on its end face. The ceramics has >=98 mass% content of at least one kind selected from alumina, zirconia, spinel, alkaline earth oxides and rare earth oxides. |
