<p>PURPOSE:To expand an air bag in two stages and relieve the impact against an occupant by first igniting and actuating a low pressure inflator, and next actuating a high pressure inflator at the time when specified time passed at the time of car collision. CONSTITUTION:Each of low and high pressure inflators 2, 3 is provided in an air bag unit 1 for the assistant driver's seat, and further they are connected in parallel between a battery 4 and a collision detecting sensor 5. And, in the ignition/actuation circuit of the high pressure inflator 3, a delay means, for example, a timer circuit 6 is connected in series with this. And at the time of vehicle collision, the low pressure inflator 2 in the air bag unit 1 for the assistant driver's seat is ignited and actuated simultaneously with the ignition/ actuation of the inflator 8 in the air bag unit 7 for the driver's seat. After that, the high pressure inflator 3 is ignited and actuated when specified time passed in the timer circuit 6. With these means, the impact against the occupant in the assistant driver's seat is relieved.</p> |
