PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mobile navigation device and map image display method, having superior visual confirmability capable of displaying a realistic map image corresponding to the actual scene observed from a mobile, regardless of the area, the season or the time zone. SOLUTION: This mobile navigation device comprises a position detecting means 10 for detecting the present position and present azimuth of the mobile, a map information acquiring means 20 for acquiring map information from a storage medium or the outside, and an output means 50 for displaying the map image for the present position periphery or an arbitrary position periphery, on the basis of the map information. This device further comprises a time detecting means 70 for detecting the present date and time at the present position, a celestial position calculating means 80 for calculating the sky position of a celestial body at the present position and the present date and time, and a display form changing means 90 for changing the display form of the map image, on the basis of the present position, the present azimuth, the present date and time, and the position of the celestial body. |
