PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a general-purpose and easy-to-use sensor device for burr inspection. SOLUTION: This sensor device has at least one distance sensor 28 with a detection head 30, and the detection head 30 can be positioned apart from a work piece 34 and they are mutually movable relative to the work piece 34, and the detection head 30 and the work piece 34 are movable relative to each other. The detection head 30 can electromagnetically coupled to the work piece 34 or can apply a shock to the work piece 34 by an electromagnetic signal through the head 30, because the coupling to the work piece 34 or an electromagnetic response signal of the work piece 34 to the shock signal depends on a distance 36 between the detection head 30 and the work piece 34, the distance can be measured in a non-contact state; and the detection head 30 can inspect the surface of the work piece 34 in a non-contacting state.
