PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for preparing an oil sample to maintain a state that Cl(chlorine) contained in petroleum products such as gasoline, light oil, kerosene, fuel oil or other heavy oil or semi-processed products is uniformly dispersed and decrease variation of fluorescent X-ray intensity for allowing accurately analyzing when fluorescent X-ray analysis is performed on Cl contained in the oil sample. SOLUTION: In order to perform fluorescent analysis on Cl contained in the oil sample, alcohol or a surfactant is added to the oil sample to produce an emulsion state. Wax or a viscosity index improver is added to restrain settling.
