The guide for a door (3) that travels vertically on a track (28) fitted to a fireplace insert (II) by means of a carriage (7) on one side consists of a first assembly (III) with a ring (13) sliding round a guide rod (14) on the insert and a carriage (7) turning on a pivot lying perpendicular to the plane of the door's travel, and a second assembly (IV) with a roller (27) on the carriage interacting with the guide track (28). The ring has a bore for a peg with lengthwise ribs, and the carriage has a sliding shoe to lock the ring from rotating, and a counterweight (8) on the end of a cable (9) passing round a pulley (10).
