1,155,669. Hose clamps. J. C. P. VANSCHENDELEN. 3 Feb., 1967 [11 Feb., 1966], No. 5304/67. Heading E2B. A hose clamp comprises a clamping strip 2 and bridge piece 3 which houses a nut 8 and a bolt 10 for tightening up the clamp, the nut being provided with projections on opposite sides thereof which are constrained to follow a rectilinear path on opposite sides respectively of the bridge piece as the bolt is screwed, within the nut to tighten up the clamp. As shown each rectilinear path is a slot 7 in the side of the bridge piece. Each end of the clamping strip is formed as a loop, 4, 5, one end of the strip being secured to one end of the bridge piece by a pin 13 passing therethrough, while the other end of the strip is provided with a central longitudinal slot, and passes around the nut with the bolt through the slot. The open side of the bridge piece is closed by an arcuate plate 6 which is attached to the bridge piece at its centre by means of lugs 12. The loops 4 and 5 bear on the ends of the plate 6 and as the bolt 10 is tightened the plate 6 is deformed by the pressure of the loops so that its radius is reduced and it remains in contact with the hose. |
