The system determines the energy of absorbed photons and obtains a spectrally resolved image, using the relationship between (i) the sensitivity of a sensor, signal amplitude and intensity of absorbed radiation, and (ii) the sensitivity of the sensor, signal amplitude and energy of the photons of the absorbed radiation. At least two images are recorded for the same scene with different intensities or sensor characteristics.
