Retransmission rules corresponding to type of voice services, are applied after detection of data collision on a shared medium. Each re-transmission rule has different parameter for an algorithm to calculate the back-off time to which the station waits after collision detection, before it re-transmits data packet affected by the collision. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) Local network station; (2) Local network; and (3) Local network controller program.
