[Also in Division B5] A thermo-adhesive carpet-seaming tape comprises a thin and limp substrate having high tensile strength and dimensional stability at least in a transverse direction and a plurality of spaced apart rows of solidified flexible thermoplastic adhesive adhered to one face of the substrate, the cross-sectional areas of the rows being sufficiently great in-relation to the spacings therebetween so that on heating the rows will flow together into a continuous layer. The substrate is of woven, knitted, openmesh, or felted textile fabric of rayon, nylon or glass fibre or may comprise a strip of crinkled or creped paper having weft-yarns of rayon or glass fibre stitched thereto by warp-wise chains of knitted stitches of cotton. When an open-mesh or knitted fabric is used, it is secured to an underlying adhesive-barrier strip. The adhesive may be "Thermogrip" (Trade Mark) or polyethylene-based and is applied to the substrate in spaced-apart tracks or ribs (e.g. by extrusion) or in the form of beads. |
