PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify structure and enhance operability, by conducting a braking operation and a speed change operation with the same lever and by conducting speed change for a bicycle with an electric speed change command signal. SOLUTION: This operation device has a braking operation part for braking wheels, a switching means self-contained in the braking operation part to output the speed change command information by conducting a switching operation to the direction different from the braking operation, an operation lever 23 for oscillating the braking operation part to conduct the braking operation, and a rotary body 29 provided freely turnably inside the braking operation part to conduct the braking operation by the turning. The switching means is supported trunably by a supporting shaft 4 supported by the rotary body to be automatically restored to an original position, and is turn-operated normally or reversely to output the speed change command signal for switching a change gear device of the bicycle to a high or low speed shift position. The switching means oscillates also the operation lever to a direction vertical to an in-plane including a braking operation direction to conduct the switching operation.
