PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital VTR that can distinguish a block having already been recorded at reproduction from a new block recorded in the midst of the recording as a separate block and normally reproduce data without increasing the memory capacity even in the case that write of the data of the new block is started within the block having already been recorded at recording start. SOLUTION: The digital VTR is provided with a means that records an end mark for preventing two-block consecutive reproduction consisting of the same signal as that of the end mark at a position before the position of recording a start mark on a control track of a magnetic tape at recording.
