摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high voltage generating circuit which swiftly compensates high voltage when it is active and generates a stable high voltage independent of the power supply voltage, and a high voltage generating method for the high voltage generating circuit. SOLUTION: This circuit is constituted of a variable step-up circuit whose step-up capability is changed responding to a control signal and which steps up high voltage responding to a first and a second pulse signal of opposite phase generated responding to an active instruction, an active high voltage detection circuit generating an active high voltage detection signal when an active instruction is applied by detecting whether or not the level of the high voltage is lower than a desired level, and a variable capacity control signal generating circuit changing the level of the control signal responding to the active high voltage detection signal when the active instruction is applied. Accordingly, a high voltage can immediately be stepped up by the variable step-up circuit when the active instruction is applied, and a stable high voltage independent of the level of the power supply voltage can be generated with the step-up capability of the variable step-up circuit adjusted by the control signal.
