Process and apparaus for butt joining of elastomeric profiles

Pre-cut end faces(4,5) of the profile(1) are moved towards each other until a small gap remains. A viscous joining material(14) is then introduced directly into the gap and the profile end faces are moved closer together until they contact the joining material. An Independent claim is made for process equipment comprising a profile gripping pair of clamps(6,7) which move relative to each other and an extruder(12) with slit nozzle(13) for introducing joining material(14) into the gap between profiles. Preferred Features: Joining material, preferably comprising two materials, is extruded as a film(15) into the gap the joint area.
