PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent cavitation of a hydraulic turbine of a last-stage hydraulic turbine generating unit even if the height of suction is insufficient, in a multistage hydraulic power plant in which a plurality of small capacity hydraulic turbine generating units are connected in series-parallel. SOLUTION: In the plurality of small capacity hydraulic turbine generating units connected in series, the last-stage hydraulic turbine generating unit takes its share of an available head that is selected to be smaller than the available head shared by the other units. Therefore, cavitation coefficient is improved even if the height of suction is insufficient.
