DRIVE SYSTEM FOR PARALLEL HYBRID VEHICLE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve fuel consumption of a parallel hybrid vehicle by increasing energy used by a power storing device. SOLUTION: This drive system for the parallel hybrid vehicle drives the vehicle by using power of an engine 1 and/or an electric motor 3a, and is provided with an electric double layer capacitor battery 6a that works as the power storing device for driving the electric motor 3a via a semiconductor power converter 5a. For the electric motor 3a, one of externally exciting electric motors including an induction motor excited by an external power source, a reluctance electric motor, and a separately excited synchronous motor are used.
