<p>The radiation emitted from the arc welding zone is detected and at least spectral line of one of the elements detected is selected and analysed. The analysis proceeds in accordance with the brightness of the line, or lines, and the chemical composition of the weld and/or depth of penetration and/or position of the weld is determined. One or more of these factors is controlled by varying the welding conditions and/or the arc position, relative to the joint.</p> |
