PURPOSE: Provided is a composition for coating an electric wire, which generates little smoke and corrosive gas when firing, and easily forms char inhibiting the flame propagation, and which has high mechanical strength. CONSTITUTION: The composition consists of 100 parts by weight of resin matrix formed by blending olefin copolymer resin and modified olefin copolymer resin to thermoplastic polyester copolymer resin alone or mixture thereof; 0.1-10 parts by weight of antioxidant, 0.1-10 parts by weight of processing aid, and 5-150 parts by weight of magnesium hydroxide. The thermoplastic polyester copolymer is a resin having Shore hardness of D40, 55, 63, and 72 alone, or mixture thereof. The olefin copolymer resin is ethylene-vinyl acetate, ethylene-ether acrylate, ethylene-methyl methacrylate, ethylene-acrylic elastomer alone, or mixture thereof. |
